Finances for the Ninth Annual Mid-Winter Blues Party
It was a crisp January night at the Chalet. Say Uncle band sounded great. People were ready to party. And while it was a good turnout, it wasn't quite what I had anticipated. Due, in part, I think because of poor parking by early arrivals. The lot filled quickly and no one left an entryway to the 2+ acres of parking beyond the actual parking lot. But, be that as it may, the night went well. If one does the math, approximately 130 people came through the door.
I wish every one could stand at the door and take money sometime. Try to figure people out. Some complain to the point of leaving about paying $5 to get in, and others will come in as a couple and give a twenty and say 'keep it'. It takes all kinds. It would be humorous if I wasn't trying to at least break even on the deal. And - thanks to a generous donation by Angie and Raul (the owners of the Chalet) and the Say Uncle band reducing their price - I did pretty much break even.
Okay. So here's the skinny:
Band......................................$600
Invitations printed and folded......$87.25
Postage.................................$102
Seeing your friends enjoy themselves.............priceless*
Total Expenses............................$789.25
Total Donations.......................$728
Net Loss...........................................$61.75
Band Discount........................-$100
Net Profit..........................................$38.75
When one considers the $25 loss I incurred last year, I am up $13.75 over two years.
A very sincere "Thank you" to everyone who took the time to attend this years event.
Special thanks to Mick Bond for volunteering to be a 'designated driver'.
* Sorry. I couldn't
resist.
